Subject : SITE B
The experience at
Jurassic Park proved it is possible to
manufacture extinct animals using
cutting-edge technology. But with any new
manufacturing process, initial yields were
low: on the order of one percent, or a
thousand embryos for every single live
birth. Genetic engineering on that scale
requires a giant industrial operation, not
the spotless little hatchery visitors to
the park were shown.
Isla Nublar was just
a showroom, something to convince the
tourists that the dinosaurs were created
right there at the park. The factory floor
was another island, Isla Sorna - Site B.
There, in secret, away from public
scrutiny, the animals were bred, nursed
until they were a few months old, then
moved to the park.
After the accident
at the park, a hurricane wiped out the
facility at Site B. The staff had to
evacuate and the animals were released to
mature on their own. By now there is a
complete ecological system on this island,
dozens of species living in social groups,
without fences, boundaries or constraining
technology.
The animals truly
rule this Lost World.
